Children with special needs need more attentive, engaged and personalized care to ensure that they are able to complete all their daily chores. In addition to care, they also need therapy sessions to help them manage/treat their condition and rehabilitate in certain cases. Delhi Special School, located at Najafgarh, Delhi is dedicated to providing and facilitating an academic environment that helps the child showcase their best. They work with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, Learning Disabilities, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Hearing Impairment and Behavioral Disorders. 

A team from Athena OKAS visited Delhi Special School on April 09, 2023 with the intention to collaborate with the school to develop more effective strategies that can help people. They met with the children and the staff and provided valuable insights for their Special Education, Assessment Counselling, Occupational/Physio Therapy, Vocational Training and Speech Therapy programs. 

The team was led by Dr. Tulna Bhardwaj, Occupational Therapist, and Prabhjeet Kaur, Special Educator, Athena Behavioral Health (ABH). Both these therapists spent time with the children to understand their needs and requirements. They then suggested some therapies and activities that could benefit the children. Overall, the session was extremely fruitful with both the teams learning a lot from each other.
